The key aim of this laboratory is the investigation of the
genetic mechanisms controlling the processes of cellular differentiation
and proliferation, mainly in the nervous system and in muscle.
In particular, we aim to study in the adult neurogenic niches, i.e., the dentate gyrus of the hippocampus and the subventricular zone, and also in the postnatal cerebellum, the effect of stimuli that modify proliferation, differentiation or the migration of stem and progenitor cells, analyzing stem cell self-renewal and maturation and functional aspects (memory) as well as possible therapeutic applications.
